Long - Term Sub French Immersion Teacher

Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated French Immersion Elementary Teacher Long-term Substitute to join our vibrant educational community, starting August 19th through to December 18th, 2026. In this role, you will deliver engaging, immersive instruction in French to elementary students, fostering a love for language and learning. You will play a vital part in maintaining a dynamic classroom environment that promotes curiosity, growth, and academic excellence. This position offers an exciting opportunity to inspire young learners and support their development during a temporary staffing need.

Duties

  • Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards, emphasizing French language acquisition and early childhood education principles.
  • Create an engaging classroom atmosphere that encourages active participation, curiosity, and respect among students.
  • Manage classroom behavior effectively through positive behavior management strategies and classroom management techniques.
  • Deliver instruction across core subjects such as literacy education, math, and social studies in French, ensuring differentiated learning to meet diverse student needs.
  • Utilize various teaching methods including Montessori and other child-centered approaches to foster independent thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Assess student progress regularly through formative and summative assessments; provide feedback to support continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, specialists (including those experienced in working with children with autism or special education needs), and parents to support student success.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience working with children in an educational setting, preferably within early childhood or elementary education.
  • Strong knowledge of curriculum development, lesson planning, classroom management, and behavior management strategies.
  • Experience with literacy education, math instruction, and integrating language immersion techniques.
  • Familiarity with Montessori methods or preschool experience is highly desirable.
  • Background in working with students with diverse needs, including those requiring special education or behavioral support.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively engage students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt teaching strategies for children with autism or other developmental differences.
  • Prior private school experience is a plus but not required; enthusiasm for working in a dynamic educational environment is essential.
